Demons of Tryed - Introduction

On 64th of Winter of the year 684 of Epoch the ground shook and there was a great light coming from the Hardlands of Noom.  The Coming of Demons, though it was only much later recognized as such, heralded arrival of the new force into this world that would remove the old order and bring decades-long War of the Curse.  Numerous realms in Tryed and Elleom have disappeared under the demon Hordes, while others have collaplsed under the burden of the war; it took nearly seventy years to turn back the tide of demons, finally removing the Red King in the Battle of Omeon Keep on 14th of Summer in 753.

Still little is understood regarding why the Demons came here, and we have only slight knowledge on how they arrived.  After the final attack on the Red King's stronghold in the Battle of Omeon Valley, King Otner said that he gleaned some of the Red King's mind and saw that the Demons arrived in a great Vessel that was found in the heart of Omeon keep, travelling over one hundred thousand years between the worlds, finally emerging in the Hardlands.  He could not discern why they left, only that there were none more coming after.

Judging by the Vessel, as well as highly potent charge crystals, remarkably fine metalwork and other unusual items that are now known to have been carried out of the Vessel by the Demons, we can suspect that the Demons posessed much higher level of arts and abilities before they came here, and only through good fortune could not unleash their full potential on us.

It is therefore important that we attempt to learn as much as possible regarding the demons, and over the decades that have passed since the war much study has been done on the demon Hordes to understand their arts, how they lived and worked and governed, how the various demons differed from each other, and why they swept over the armies of Tryed and Elleom in the first decades of war only to be defeated so completely in the last few years.

This work provides the first collective summary of the studies on Demons, attempting to answer some of the questions above.  This will be done by covering the actions of demons in chronological order, supplementing them with various descriptions of the demons, their arts, their structures, organization, tactics, and other topics as nesessary.

This book is intended as a summary of the current knowledge about demons, not as a comprehensive and complete work, and the reader is encouraged to pursue other works covering each of the areas.  While the events and persons of the Demon Wars are now common knowlege even among the children, this book does not require the reader to be familiar with them and will provide much of the necessary information.
